The Girodat lab currently includes members from both the University of Lethbridge and the University of Arkansas, functioning as a cross-institutional research group.
Dylan is from Medicine Hat, Alberta, and received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. from the University of Lethbridge, where he studied the kinetics of the protein Elongation Factor Tu. He then joined Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Director's-funded Postdoctoral Fellow, where he investigated the structural dynamics of the process of aminoacyl-tRNA selection during the elongation phase of protein synthesis. Since 2022, he has been an assistant professor researching how essential motions of the ribosome enable protein synthesis and how antibiotics impair these processes. Furthermore, he has been investigating how mutations in ribosomal constituents lead to structural changes in ribosomopathy models.
